Privacy Policy

MainStreetAI is a local business directory. This page explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can ask us to change or remove it. We keep this simple: we are not an ad network, we do not sell personal data, and we do not run third-party tracking on public pages.

Business listing data

Most listings on MainStreetAI are built from publicly available sources — places like business registries, mapping data, and public web pages — so that local business owners have a free, accurate profile without doing any setup work. If you own a business we list and something is wrong, out of date, or should not be listed at all, you can claim the listing to correct it directly, or submit a removal request. Removal requests are honored promptly and we will also stop any outreach email to the address you provide.

Information you give us directly

We collect information you choose to submit, such as:

• Your name, email, and phone number when you send a lead to a listed business
• Your email address when you claim a listing or create an account
• Details you submit when editing a listing after claiming it
• Your email and business name when requesting a listing removal

We use this only to operate the directory: routing your message to the business, verifying a claim, and running your account. We do not sell it, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Analytics we collect automatically

We record aggregate counts of page views, phone-tap clicks, website clicks, direction requests, and shares per listing so owners can see how their listing performs. These counts are stored per listing per day — never tied to an individual visitor. To avoid counting the same visit twice, we briefly hash your IP address together with the current date and hold that hash in memory for up to 30 minutes; the raw IP address is never written to our database, and the hash itself is discarded after that window. Requests that look like bots or crawlers are filtered out and not counted at all.

Cookies

We use only the minimum cookies required to keep you signed in (set by our authentication provider) and to remember basic display preferences like light or dark mode. We do not use third-party advertising cookies, cross-site tracking pixels, or analytics cookies on public pages.

Payments

If you purchase a Featured listing, your payment is processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number — Stripe handles that directly and shares with us only what we need to activate your subscription (such as the plan you purchased and the amount paid).

Who we share data with

We share information only with the service providers that make the directory work: our database and authentication provider (Supabase), our email delivery provider, and Stripe for payments. None of these providers may use your data for their own marketing.

How long we keep data

Lead messages and claim records are kept for as long as the listing exists, so the business owner can refer back to them. If you unsubscribe or request removal, we stop further outreach and suppress your email from future campaigns indefinitely.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to:

• Correct inaccurate information in a listing you own — claim it and edit it directly
• Remove a listing entirely — use the removal request form
• Stop receiving outreach emails — use the one-click unsubscribe link in any email
• Tell us what data we hold about you, or delete your account

Children's privacy

MainStreetAI is a directory for local businesses and is not directed at children.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page if our practices change and update the date at the top. For material changes, we will make a reasonable effort to notify claimed business owners.
